MBTI Spotlight: ESTP (Han Solo – Star Wars)

“Kid, I’ve flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I’ve seen a lot of strange stuff, but I’ve never seen anything to make me believe that there’s one all-powerful Force controlling everything.”

This ‘stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder’ is pretty much the stereotypical ESTP we see in fiction who’s in it for three things: money, girls and action. Han Solo is an impulsive thrill-seeker who’s all for taking a walk on the wild side, like many ESTPs are, no matter how this ‘act first, think later’ attitude may make them end up in danger.

ESTPs live in the now and would rather view the world from a practical perspective; hokey concepts are not exactly their cup of tea. They’re also logical thinkers, preferring to deal with matters rationally and stay emotionally unattached. Yet they could also prove to be very loyal allies once you get on their good side.

ESTPs also tend to be very adept at skills that require practicality and physical ability. Many ESTPs are good with sports, playing music or even dancing. In Han, this is displayed through his mechanical skills and aptitude in shooting.
